MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT
College of Fine and Performing Arts

The Mission

The College of Fine and Performing Arts provides a dynamic learning environment in the creative and communication arts to strengthen and broaden the intellectual and cultural horizons of a diverse community.

The College is dedicated to:

  • demonstrating the values and principles inherent to the arts and challenging students to experience and appreciate the various forms of artistic expression;
  • recognizing scholarship and teaching as integral and interrelated activities of the College demonstrated by a faculty and staff of active artists and scholars, providing a lasting and sustainable contribution to aid students in achieving an enriched and fulfilled life;
  • utilizing music, visual arts, speech communication, telecommunication and theater, to present a highly visible presence reaching beyond the University community; and
  • creating an innovative environment that cultivates its faculty, staff and students to become leaders in their professional and civic lives.

The Vision

           The College seeks to be a distinguished center, nationally recognized for education in the fine and performing arts.  As an outgrowth of that vision, we will continue to offer a varied selection of high quality programming in the creative arts.  Central to this intention is the understanding that the creative and communication arts are expressions of our shared humanity, capable of building connections among people and cultures, exploring the human spirit in all of its nuances, revealing new perceptions of our past, present and future, and providing a humanizing force vital to a civil society.
