Stephen Ausmann

Dr. Stephen W. Ausmann teaches courses in music education (both at the graduate and undergraduate levels), middle school music methods, secondary school music methods, music theory, show choir techniques, tests and measurement in music education and supervises student teachers during their professional quarter of student teaching. Since his appointment, Ausmann has directed the Men's and Women's Ensembles as well as the YSU University Chorus. Dr. Ausmann holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Capital University Conservatory of Music, a Master of Arts Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from The Ohio State University.

He has been a public school educator and church choral musician and remains active as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association and the North American Music Festivals. Dr. Ausmann conducts the Sound of American Honor Chorus, a national high school/collegiate honor chorus which tours Europe each July with the SOA Honor Band. His dissertation topic and on-going research interests relate to the identification, training, and retention of (music) teachers for the urban environment.
